chaos’ Etymology

Name: chaos

Japanese Name: ケイオス

Romanization: keiosu

Origin: Khaos is an Ancient Greek word that refers to a state lacking order or predictability. In Greek myth, it refers to the initial state of the universe, a gaping abyss of nothingness from which everything appeared. Chaos also refers to any form of disorder or confusion. In mathematics, chaos is deterministic behavior which is very sensitive to its initial conditions.

Significance: chaos is the human incarnation of Anima, the universe’s failsafe. Its function is to destroy the lower domain- the Dimensional Universe- when it is near collapse in order to spare the upper domain, where U-DO resides. In this way, it is the opposite of order, i.e. the cosmos. Anima’s opposite, Animus, has the power to control Anima, thus ensuring the continuation of the universe.
